CHESTERTOWN, MD- The Washington & Lee Generals defeated the Swarthmore Garnet Tide in the First Round of the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championships in Chestertown, Maryland, 4-1. The Generals meet Washington College tomorrow at Noon in Chestertown.

W &L took an early advantage sweeping the doubles matches. In singles, K.C. Schaefer (Troy, OH/Troy) won 6-4, 6-4 in the five spot. Rob Moynihan (Queensbury, NY/Queensbury) won 6-2, 6-2 in sixth singles. For Swarthmore, Pete Schilla (Sacramento, CA/Jesuit) won 6-4, 6-4 in first singles.
