Field Hockey Selected To ECAC Tournament

 

 

The Swarthmore College field hockey team had its 2000 season extended as it was selected to compete in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Mid-Atlantic Tournament. The Garnet are the third seed in the six team tournament and will host # 6 Frostburg State University in a first round contest at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 1st on Cunningham Field.

Should Swarthmore defeat the Bobcats, they will advance to play at # 2 seed Montclair State University on Saturday, November 4 at 2:00 pm. The #5 seed Vassar will travel to # 4 seed St. Lawrence on Wednesday with the winner advancing to Montclair to take on #1 seed Wesley College at 11:00 am Saturday. The Championship game will be played on Sunday November 5 at a time to be determined.

Swarthmore is 14-6 on the season and finished as runner-up in the Centennial Conference Championship tournament.

The squad returns to the ECAC tournament for the third time in four seasons. Swarthmore reached the semifinals in 1998 and were tournament champions in 1997.
