Swarthmore Places Three On All-Centennial Baseball Squad

 

Swarthmore College placed three players on the 2001 All-Centennial Conference (CC) baseball team as selected by the conference's ten head coaches.

Senior catcher Josh Lindsey (Elma, WA &endash; Elma) earned Second Team All-CC honors while junior centerfielder Scott Kushner (Castro Valley, CA &endash; Bishop O'Dowd) and freshman third baseman Ryan Pannorfi (Toms River, NJ &endash; Monsignor Donovan) received Honorable Mention recognition.

Lindsey hit a career-best .370 on the season picking up 30 hits in 81 at bats. He also drove in 10 runs, scored four times and picked up three doubles. In 18 CC games Lindsey hit a team-high .435. The captain finished his four-year career with 95 hits, 31 runs, 47 RBI, 17 doubles, three triples and a .291 batting average. Kushner recorded a .344 batting average and led the Garnet with 31 hits, 20 runs,15 RBI, six doubles, four home runs and a .544 slugging percentage. In his three-year career Kushner owns a .329 batting average collecting 93 hits in 283 at bats. Pannorfi's .388 batting average led the Garnet and ranked seventh in the CC standings. Pannorfi collected 29 hits in 67 at bats, scored 14 runs, picked up nine RBI, hit five doubles and stole a team-best eight bases on 11 attempts. Pannorfi also hit a triple and a home run and posted .537 slugging percentage.

The Garnet Tide recorded a 5-20 overall mark and was 4-14 in CC games.
