Garnet Place Three on All-Centennial Field Hockey Squad

 

Swarthmore seniors Katie Tarr (Glen Mills, PA / Garnet Valley) and Kim Cariello (Hudson, OH / Western Reserve Academy) and junior Kate Nelson-Lee (Jamestown, RI &endash; The Wheeler School) were named to the 2001 All-Centennial Conference field hockey team.

 

Tarr earned first-team honors for the second straight season. Tarr led all Garnet backs with four goals and four assists for 12 points and recorded six defensive saves. She closes her career with 11 goals, eight assists, 30 points and 22 defensive saves.

 

Cariello, a forward, moved up from the second team last season to earn her first first-team nod. Cariello shared the CC lead in goals (11) and was second in scoring with 11-3-25. Cariello finished her career in sixth place on the school's all-time goals and points lists with 32 goals and 78 points.

 

Nelson-Lee earned her first Centennial recognition with an honorable mention nod. The goaltender recorded a 1.45 goals against average and a .837 save percentage that rank fifth best in the conference. Nelson-Lee turned away 108 shots and recorded three shutouts on the season. The junior holds the school career-record with 285 saves.

 

Swarthmore finished the season with an 8-7 overall record and a 4-5 Centennial Conference mark.
