Volleyball in Seven Sisters at Bryn Mawr

The Garnet finished in fourth place in the Seven Sisters Tournament. Swarthmore defeated St. Joseph (CT) in round one 3-0 (30-20, 30-14, 30-12). Christine Hancock led the Garnet with 10 kills and six aces. The Garnet fell to Haverford 3-0 (30-27, 30-13, 30-21) in the semifinals and was defeated by Vassar in the Third Place game 3-0 (30-26, 30-11, 30-7). Against Haverford, Hancock added 13 kills while Bryn Rosenfeld added four kills and three blocks. In the third place contest, Hancock again led the team with seven kills and two aces. Katrian Morrison added four blocks. The Garnet are now 11-8 on the season.

 

Field Hockey

Johns Hopkins 2, Swarthmore 1

Alison Gaffney scored the lone Garnet goal on a Katie Tarr assist. Swarthmore is now 6-6 overall, 3-4 in the Centennial.

 

Women's Soccer at Western Maryland

Western Maryland 2, Swarthmore 1

The Green Terror jumped out to a 2-0 halftime advantage as Jackie Kahn's second half goal from Corey Pilver was not enough. Swarthmore is now 7-6 overall, 2-6 in Centennial play.

 

Men's Soccer at Franklin & Marshall

Franklin & Marshall 1, Swarthmore 0

Nate Shupe made 12 saves in goal for the Garnet. Swarthmore falls to 6-9 overall, 1-5 in conference.

 

Men's Cross Country at DeSales Invitational

The Garnet men placed 10th of 35 teams at the DeSales Invitational. Joe Makin led the Garnet with a 30th place finish covering the 8K in 27:35.5. Garrett Ash placed 35th (27:40.88), James Golden finished in 43rd(27:35.5), Lang Reynolds placed 63rd (28:27.4) and Rory Konrad rounded out the Garnet scoring with a 116th place finish in 29:54.02.
