Protestant life at Swarthmore
SPC, the Protestant Ministry at Swarthmore College, is also known as the Swarthmore Progressive Christians. Rooted in the mainline Protestant traditions, we welcome all seekers of God into hospitable fellowship. We are an ecumenical group from many different backgrounds, including Episcopalian, Lutheran, Presbyterian, Quaker, Baptist, UU, Catholic, Methodist, and agnostic. The campus ministry is supported by a local consortium of churches called Partners In Ministry. These supporting congregations include Methodist, Presbyterian, Episcopal, Lutheran, AME churches and Swarthmore Friends Meeting.
Meetings and Events
The SPC group meets on Tuesdays for Scripture study, pizza and discussion (Pizza and Parable) from 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. On the first Sunday of the month we gather for Shape Note singing worship and from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. All of these activities are in Bond Hall. Other activities such as retreats, service projects, apple picking, cookie baking, movies and speakers are scheduled regularly. Check out our calendar on the bulletin board in Parrish to learn about upcoming events.
