In the Fall of 2015, I will be teaching General Chemistry (Chem 10). In the Spring of 2016, I will be teaching Physical Chemistry: Energy and Change (Chem 55) and Topics in Biophysical Chemistry Seminar (Chem 110).
My research focuses on using electron spin resonance (ESR) and molecular dynamics simulations to probe the structure and dynamics of biomolecules, in particular membrane-associated peptides and proteins. Membrane-associated peptides are sensitive to both the curvature and charge of the lipid membrane. ESR can be utilized to probe the dynamics and association of these peptides with the membrane surface under varying membrane conditions. In addition, molecular dynamics simulations can be used to provide atomistic details of these membrane-associated peptides. The goal of this work is to better understand the physiochemical features that promote peptide-membrane interactions.
