Invitation to Visioning Forum

President Valerie Smith sent the following message to the community on Oct. 5, 2016:

Dear Friends,

I write to invite you to attend Re-imagining the Swarthmore Student Experience: A Visioning Workshop on October 17, 2016, from 12:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Pearson Hall, Lang Performing Center.  This workshop has been developed in close collaboration with students, faculty, staff, alumni and Brightspot Strategy, a consulting firm that specializes in helping higher education institutions and other organizations improve work and learning experiences.

Open to all community members; this event is designed to help us think more holistically about both the nature of students’ lives beyond the classroom and the types of spaces that might support those experiences both now and into the future.  It will begin with a buffet lunch, followed by three sessions focused on the guiding principles that have emerged from the visioning process:

Community and Belonging

Exploration and Curiosity

Growth and Development

These sessions will feature moderated group discussions with staff, faculty, and alumni experts, followed by questions and answers with members of the audience.  Everyone is welcome to come and go as time permits.  Please plan to attend as much of the workshop as your schedule will allow.  We ask that you RSVP by October 13.

I look forward to seeing you on October 17.

Sincerely,

Val Smith

President
