his semester, Anna Phillips '10 studied independently with Professor of Education Lisa Smulyan '76 to develop a math and English curriculum for the Village Education Project's summer volunteer program in Ecuador. Anna first traveled there over winter break with Katie Chamblee '07, the project's founder, to meet local educators and design the program outline. Her descriptions of the following photos document her visit.
This summer, Anna plans to work closely with summer program director Nicole Nfonoyim '08 to collect feedback on her lesson plans from volunteers and others involved with the organization so that she can revise the plan in the fall. In the meantime, she says, "I can't wait to go back and see the curriculum I wrote in action."
