The Creative Artists Agency Theatre hosted an energetic crowd of alumni and parents who engaged in conversation with President Rebecca Chopp during her Listening Tour stop in Los Angeles. There was a particularly rich conversation about how the College can prepare students for life skills, as well as career skills. President Chopp shared news of the good work of the Career Services Office which has expanded on-campus outreach including career exploration talks and open houses. In addition, the Career Services Office partners with the Office of Alumni Relations to offer an annual Extern Program that enables Swarthmore students to experience professional life firsthand under the careful tutelage of dozens of alumni volunteers. President Chopp encouraged “alumni from across the professional spectrum to consider participating in our Extern Program or other programs that connect current students with alumni in the work place. Opening our undergraduates' minds to the plethora of career options available to them is a tangible way to "give back" to the College and to the next generation of leaders.”
