Helen Plotkin

Visiting Assistant Professor of Classics

Helen Plotkin studies ancient and medieval Hebrew texts and interpretive traditions. She teaches courses in Hebrew for Text Study, and Readings in Classical Hebrew Texts. She is the co-founder with Nathaniel Deutsch of the Beit Midrash, Swarthmore's Center for the Study of Classical Jewish Texts. She edited and annotated In This Hour, a volume of early writings by Abraham Joshua Heschel.

She received a B.A. from Swarthmore College and an M.A. from the University of Michigan. She received rabbinic ordination and the Master of Arts in Hebrew Letters from Reconstructionist Rabbinical College.
