Atlantic History - A New New World?
Does Atlantic history offer an important new way to analyze interactions among peoples and places falsely separated by conventional approaches? Or is it just re-branded imperial history, warmed-over colonial history, or even defective global history? Robert DuPlessis, the Isaac H. Clothier Professor of History and International Relations, assessed the still-maturing field of Atlantic history at Garnet Homecoming and Family Weekend. DuPlessis teaches courses that examine Europe and the Atlantic world between the 15th and the late 18th centuries.
