Yongjun Heo '09


Yongjun Heo '09 (left), a biology and public policy major from Newburgh, Ind., is the recipient of a $7500 Clinton Global Initiative University Outstanding Commitment grant in support of his work to address health problems in a rural region in Venezuela. Heo will personally receive the award at a CGI ceremony on Fri., Sept. 26. Watch more.

As a sophomore, Heo received funding from the Swarthmore Foundation to work in a medical clinic in Urimán, Venezuela. He returned this past summer under the auspices of Pemón Health, an organization he founded with support from the Project Pericles Fund to address preventative medicine and health issues.
