The eponymous heroine of PBS' new animated series "WordGirl," premiering this week, is the alter ego of Dorothea Gillem '86, the show's creator and executive producer.  Featuring a lead character from the planet Lexicon, the show is designed to entertain children and teach them about vocabulary. Read recent coverage in the New York Times.

Gillim also created and produced "Hey Monie," the first animated series featuring African American women, and is a producer for the digital animation studio Soup2Nuts.
