Marissa Davis '08, a history major from Kingston, Jamaica, will join other social activists as a featured speaker at a conference this weekend on social entrepreneurship at Smith College.  She plans to discuss her work in New Orleans, where she established a children's library in the Cut-Off section of Algiers, and how young people can help to further her initiative.  She will also describe her future plans for NOLARIZE!, an organization she founded to raise awareness of the current situation in New Orleans and to bring up the social, political, cultural aspects of the city. Marissa's efforts have been praised by New Orleans City Council and have garnered extensive media attention in the city, including in the Times-Picayune and the Gambit Weekly.
