Swarthmore Responds to Tragedy at Virginia Tech

On Tues., Apr. 17, President Alfred H. Bloom invited the Swathmore community, with deep sympathy for the Virginia Tech community, to observe a moment of silence at 2 p.m. That moment was signaled by a special tolling of the Clothier bell.

The following night, a candlelight vigil took place on the steps of Parrish Hall. Speakers included Dean Jim Larimore, as well as others who wished to share their thoughts. Read the Phoenix cover story by Mara Revkin '09 on the event.
