Familiarize yourself with the local community during Swarthmore’s weekly farmer's market or take the campus shuttle to Target, Acme (grocery store) or Media. The shuttle picks up at 10:00 am in Parrish Circle and last drop-off is 4pm.  Ask your OL for more information.

10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Visit the Swarthmore Campus and Community Store

Explore the store. Textbooks are available - for purchase or rent.

11:00 - 11:30 a.m. Follow-Up Course Registration (Science Center Eldridge Commons)

In advance of this meeting, check MySwarthmore to see if your fall course schedule is complete. If you have been “lotteried out” of any of your courses (because the course was over-enrolled), attend this registration session to select additional courses to fill in your schedule.

11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Lunch (Sharples Dining Hall)

1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Matchbox Open House (Matchbox)

Learn about the Fitness and Wellness Center. Meet the Matchbox staff, tour the facility and equipment, and learn about Physical Education classes and recreational programs.

1:30 - 2:00 p.m. Arboretum Walks in the Crum Woods (meet at the Amphitheatre)

Join a member of the Arboretum staff for a guided tour of the Crum Woods.

1:30 - 4:15 p.m. One Card Program and Campus Safety Discussion (Science Center 101, 45-minute session)

Learn about the new One Card and ways to help keep yourself and others safe. Three sessions are offered and you only need to attend one session: a) 1:30-2:15; b) 2:30-3:15; or c) 3:30-4:15.

3:00 - 4:00 p.m. Interfaith Center Open House (Bond Hall)

Come one, come all for an open and engaging opportunity to meet representatives from all the campus religious groups. Refreshments will be served.

While Sunday is outside of the official orientation schedule, we recognize that new students who identify as Christian may be looking for Sunday morning worship opportunities. Here is a listing of some local options [doc]. A full list of worship resources for most faith traditions is available on the Interfaith Center website.

3:30 - 4:00 p.m. Arboretum Walks in the Crum Woods (meet at the Amphitheatre)

4:30 - 6:30 p.m. Dinner (Sharples Dining Hall)

5:00 p.m. Men's soccer hosts annual Garnet Soccer Alumni Match (Clothier Field)

Root for the soccer team and visit Clothier Field.

6:45 - 8:00 p.m. First Collection (Scott Amphitheater, rain location: LPAC)

Begin the academic year with a long-standing tradition that marks the official beginning of every student's Swarthmore experience. An opportunity to reflect again on the queries posed at our First Gathering and to commit ourselves to engage fully in the community in a manner that opens us to transformation. Share insights, learn from the wisdom of others, pass the light of your candle to your neighbors, and sing the alma mater with your Swarthmore community.

9:00 - 11:00 p.m. Movie Screening (Mary Lyon Breakfast Room)

Take the shuttle and catch a flick "Dope" in the ML Breakfast room….Popcorn, candy and soda provided!

9:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. PACES PARTY (Paces)

Substance-free dance party for new students and their orientation leaders.

11:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. Snacks in Parrish (Shane Lounge)

A late night snack hosted by your Orientation Committee!
