Orientation Events for Parents & Families - Tuesday, August 23

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Arrival and Check-In (Parrish Parlors, Parrish Hall)

Keys can be picked up, and move-in assistance is available at each residence hall from 9 a.m.– noon. After moving into your dorm room, please report to Parrish Parlors to pick up your orientation packet.

9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Student Disability Services Open House (Parrish West 113)

Director of Student Disability Services Leslie Hempling will introduce students and families to the resources of the Student Disability Service.

10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Reception for First-gen, Low-income Families and Friends (Kohlberg Hall, Scheuer Room)

11:00 a.m. –12:00 noon Recepción para Familias Latin@s / Reception for Latin@ Families (Kohlberg Hall, Scheuer Room)

An opportunity to learn about Division III and what the Swarthmore athletics experience might be like, as well as ask any questions that you might have about Garnet Athletics from Marian Ware Director of Athletics Adam Hertz.

11:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. Lunch (Sharples Dining Hall Patio)

Lunch is provided on the patio outside of our Dining Hall for students and family members.

1:15 - 2:00 p.m. President's Welcome to Families (LPAC - Lang Performing Arts Center)
President Valerie Smith, Dean of Students Liz Braun, and Provost Tom Stephenson welcome family members to the Swarthmore College Community.

2:00 - 3:00 p.m. Supporting Our Students (LPAC - Lang Performing Arts Center)

Meet the Directors and Deans overseeing support services and get your questions answered: Karen Henry, ’87, Dean of the First Year Class; Alice Holland, Worth Health Center; David Ramirez, Counseling and Psychological Services; Nancy Burkett, Career Services; Michael Hill, Public Safety and Security; Diane Anderson, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs; Nathan Miller, Associate Dean of Students; Rachel Head, Director of the Office of Student Engagement. 

3:00 - 3:45 p.m. Family Reception and Farewells (LPAC Lobby)

The time has come to say goodbye; this event marks the end of the Parent and Family portion of orientation. Families are invited to meet President Valerie Smith and other members of the administration and faculty at this informal reception.
