Swarthmore College Chorus

Swarthmore College Chorus

The Swarthmore College Chorus is an auditioned, mixed ensemble composed of approximately 70 singers.  It comprises mostly students but is also open to faculty, staff, and community members. Auditions take place at the beginning of each semester.  Rehearsals are held Wednesdays from 7:00-8:30PM in Lang Concert Hall during the academic year.  The Chorus usually performs one concert at the end of each semester and studies medium- to large-scale works; past repertoire includes Bach's St. John Passion, Mozart's Requiem, Brahms's Liebeslieder Walzer, and Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.

The Swarthmore College Chamber Choir is a select, mixed subset of the Chorus composed of approximately 24 students.  Those wishing to be considered for membership in Chamber Choir must concurrently sing in Chorus.  Rehearsals are held Wednesdays from 8:30-10:00PM in Lang Concert Hall during the academic year.  The Chamber Choir usually performs one concert at the end of each semester and focuses on small-scale works of all eras; recent repertoire includes Victoria's O magnum mysterium, Isaac's Innsbruck, ich muss dich lassen, Schumann's Zigeunerleben, and Poulenc's Quatre motets pour le temps de Noël.
