Emma McRedmond White (1869-1932):
Proprietress of the Hotel Redmond and wife of a state Supreme Court justice, White was one of the first women to run for public office after the Washington state constitution was amended in 1910 to allow female suffrage. In 1912 she ran for the position of (King) County Clerk and attended the state Democratic convention. White organized the Woman’s Democratic Club, participating in women’s increased political power in Washington State.
