Marion Newhall Horwitz (?-?):
Marion N. Horwitz was elected mayor of Moore Haven, Florida in 1917. She was the first female mayor south of the Mason-Dixon line. Horwitz who came from a prominent Philadelphia, PA family, moved to Florida after the death of her husband, an attorney. She had been one of the leaders of the Emergency Aid Committee during World War I in Philadelphia and known for her organizational abilities.
