Alice Merrill Horne: (1868-1948):
Alice Merrill Horne served in the Utah state house in 1899. She represented Salt Lake city. Horne was active with women’s relief services in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Horne was an educator, suffrage supporter, and active in civic organizations. She was also instrumental in introducing legislation to create the Utah Arts Institute and was the author of Devotees and Their Shrines: A Hand Book of Utah Art, published by Deseret News in 1914.
