Historical Background
The New Commonwealth was founded in 1932 in the United Kingdom with the motto "A Society for the Promotion of International Law and Order Through the Creation of a Tribunal in Equity and an International Police Force." It was headed by President Winston Churchill, President G. N. Barnes, Director Ernst Jackh, and Chairman Lord Davies, and had members in 44 countries. They published a monthly information bulletin and The New Commonwealth Quarterly about world affairs, international relations, and war and peace. This set of files is from the American section.
