            <abstract label="Abstract">The Taylors and Thomsons were Quakers from Montgomery County,
                Pennsylvania, who married into the Knight, Clothier, and Shoemaker families. This
                collection includes correspondence, copybooks and albums, account books, family
                photographs, and miscellaneous clippings. Of particular interest is a large
                collection of deeds and some late 19th and early 20th century travel
                diaries.</abstract>

            <head>BIOGRAPHICAL/HISTORICAL:</head>
            <p>The Taylors and Thomsons who married into the Knight, Clothier, and Shoemaker
                families of Montgomery County, Pa., and its environs.</p>
            <p> Herbert Knight Taylor (1879-1957) married Elizabeth E. Thomson (1875-1966) in 1897.
                Their youngest son, Herbert Knight Taylor (b. 1907) married Edith Clothier Maxwell
                who was the daughter of John Rogers Maxwell, Jr., and Lydia B. Clothier. Lydia was
                the daughter of Isaac H. and Mary Clapp Jackson Clothier; Isaac was a long supporter
                of Swarthmore College, including serving as Chairman of the Board of Managers and
                President of the Corporation. </p>

            <p>This collection includes Montgomery Co., Pennsylvania correspondence, deeds,
                household account books, copybooks and commonplace books, and miscellaneous

                Egypt. </p>
