Samuel Bowne Haines (1834-1913) was a banker and a minister in New York Monthly Meeting. The collection contains family correspondence (1859-1869), expense book of Samuel B. Haines, and Quaker manuscripts, possibly by Mary Caley. Also includes genealogical and biographical materials on the Haines, Gaskill, and related families.

Background note:
BIOGRAPHICAL AND HISTORICAL NOTE Samuel Bowne Haines (1834-1913) was a banker employed by the Bowery Savings Bank. He was a member of the Society of Friends (Quakers) and a minister in New York Monthly Meeting. The son of Franklin Haines and Abigail Bowne, he married Rebecca Mifflin Rowland of Philadelphia in 1859. He died in 1913.

SCOPE AND CONTENT OF THE RECORDS The collection contains family correspondence, 1859-69, and expense book of Samuel B. Haines. Correspondents include Rebecca Haines, Annie Caley, and Mary L. Caley. Also includes genealogical and biographical materials on the Haines, Gaskill, and related families.
