BIOGRAPHICAL AND HISTORICAL NOTE

Carlisle G. Davidson, a member of Detroit Monthly Meeting (affiliated with Indiana Yearly Meeting and Friends United Meeting), was editor of Pentecostal Friend, published by the Evangelical Friends Association. Davidson's strong interest in charismatic renewal or the Pentecostal experience is reflected in these papers. Some correspondence concerns a separation among Friends in East Africa Yearly Meeting which resulted in the formation of a new yearly meeting, Elgon Yearly Meeting.

Processing information

The papers are arranged according to topics defined by Carlisle Davidson.

Papers were first placed in Record Group 4 under the title Evangelical Friends Association. In 1988, in a review of the collections, a decision was made to consider these personal papers of Carlisle G. Davidson rather than official records of Evangelical Friends Association. Therefore the collection was transferred to Record Group 5 under a new title, Davidson Papers.

Formerly cited as Evangelical Friends Association Papers.
