Shrewsbury and Rahway Quarterly Meeting was established in 1672. In 1828 it divided into Orthodox and Hicksite branches. The Orthodox branch affliiated with Philadelphia Yearly Meeting and was laid down in 1857. In 1891 the Hicksite branch became Shrewsbury and Rahway Half-Yearly Meeting and in 1892 it changed its name to Shrewsbury and Plainfield Half-Yearly Meeting, which body continues to the present day.
