Shrewsbury Monthly Meeting was established in 1672. The Monthly Meeting was transferred to Philadelphia Yearly Meeting in 1682. Two branches formed at the time of the Separation. The Orthodox branch was discontinued in 1855. The Hicksite Monthly Meeting was transferred to New York Yearly Meeting in 1833. In 1908, the name changed to Shrewsbury Executive Meeting. In 1928, it merged with Squan Preparative Meeting to form Shrewsbury and Manasquan Monthly Meeting. This meeting became Manasquan Monthly Meeting in 1955. In 1954, Shrewsbury Monthly Meeting was reestablished from Shrewsbury Meeting of Friends which had been meeting as early as 1937.

Custodial History:

Hicksite records transferred from Haviland Records Room by NYYM in 1997. Orthodox records deposited by Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. The latter were originally filed with PYM, but were moved from RG2/Ph/S45 to RG2/NY/S553 in 2011; these volumes included 3.9-3.10, 1.9-1.10, and 2.6-2.9.
