Purchase Monthly Meeting was established in 1725 under Westchester Quarterly Meeting and became part of Purchase Quarterly Meeting on its establishment in 1745. In 1828 it divided into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Hicksite branch united with Purchase Preparative Meeting in 1908 to form Purchase Executive and Preparative Meeting. In 1937 this body united with its Orthodox counterpart. In 1964 Purchase Meeting, Religious Society of Friends, incorporated, which body continues to the present day.

Monthly meeting records normally include minutes of men’s and women’s meetings for business and registers of births, deaths, marriages, removals (transfers), and disownments. In general, non-members are not mentioned in the minutes, even when they attended meeting for worship on a regular basis.
