History of the Meeting

Lafayette Avenue Friends Meeting was established as Brooklyn Preparative in 1869 under New York Monthly Meeting (Orthodox). The preparative meeting was laid down in 1902, according to the Uniform Discipline, and New York Monthly Meeting appointed a local business meeting for its Brooklyn Congregation. This meeting became known as Brooklyn Congregational or Lafayette Avenue Friends Meeting. This meeting was laid down in 1959.
