History of the Meeting

Chappaqua Monthly Meeting was established in 1785, set off from Purchase Monthly Meeting, under Purchase Quarterly Meeting. The pre-Separation men's minutes were retained by the Orthodox clerk and were reportedly destroyed by fire in 1847, along with early Orthodox records up to 1830. The Hicksite and Orthodox branches of Chappaqua Monthly Meeting reunited in 1961, meeting in the formerly Hicksite meeting house.
