Biographical / Historical

Brooklyn Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was established in 1837 under New York Monthly Meeting. In 1857 it changed its location to Schermerhorn Street, where it remained. It was responsible for the formation of a First Day School in 1868. In 1975 the preparative meeting at Brooklyn was established as a monthly meeting; it is currently active.
