Biographical / Historical

The date of establishment of Bethpage Preparative Meeting is uncertain. It was granted permission to worship by the quarterly meeting in 12mo 1697/8. In 1743/4, Westbury Monthly Meeting accepted a transfer of the Bethpage Quaker meeting house from the private ownership of the Powells and Whitsons to general ownership by the Society. Bethpage Preparative Meeting became part of Jericho Monthly Meeting on its establishment in 1789. Bethpage Preparative Meeting is an active meeting.
