Who may borrow?

Courtesy cards for borrowing library materials are available at McCabe Library only. Current and valid proof of identity and residency must be provided when applying for a courtesy card.

Who may borrow with no fee

  • Alumni of Swarthmore College
  • Spouses/partners of Swarthmore College faculty and staff (staff privileges)
  • Children of Swarthmore College faculty and staff (visitor privileges)
  • Faculty members of the University of Pennsylvania, with signed authorization form
  • Faculty members of colleges and universities in the Pennsylvania Academic Libraries Consortium, Inc., with a signed authorization form
  • Teachers in the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District
  • Teachers at Friends schools
  • Staff at an ABC House
  • Paid employees of the Swarthmore or Wallingford Public Libraries
  • Residents of Pendle Hill
  • High school and ABC House students with a registration card signed by the librarian at Strath Haven High School

Who may borrow for a small yearly fee

  • Residents of the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District, with valid documentation, for $20 annually
  • Senior citizen residents of the Wallingford-Swarthmore School District, with valid documentation, for $10 annually
  • Faculty members at colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, or Maryland, with a signed letter from their provost, for $20 annually
  • Graduate students at colleges and universities in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, or Maryland, with valid documentation, such as a current tuition bill or note from your registrar, for $20 annually
  • Clergy, with valid documentation, for $20 annually
  • Teachers at public schools in Delaware County, Philadelphia County, or Chester County, with vaild documentation, for $20 annually
  • Non-local visiting scholars, for $100 annually
