Swarthmore College's wireless networks are available in all administrative and academic buildings, all residence halls, and in many of the campus's outdoor spaces. 802.11a, b, g, and n standards are supported.
Faculty, Staff, and Students
The College's authenticated wireless network for community members allows access to network resources and printers. The network provides a high level of security using WPA2 authentication and AES encryption. Please follow the Connection Instructions below to get started.
Visitors who do not have a College userID may use the wireless network called SwatGuest. Guests can use our self-service process to sign up for a temporary account. These accounts are good for four days.
Faculty, staff, students and individuals associated with Swarthmore or Bryn Mawr College can use the following instructions for setting up a wireless connection. Follow these steps to connect to SwatWireless from an OS X, Windows, or Ubuntu computer or Apple iPhone and iPad devices. Other versions of Linux are not supported on our wireless network. To connect other types of devices, contact the ITS Help Desk for assistance.
Open up your wireless connection and choose the SwatWireless wireless network. Connect to it. It may take a few moments.
Once connected, open up a browser and type any plain URL into your browser's address bar. You will automatically be forwarded to the SwatWireless connection pages. You may be prompted to accept a certificate for the website you entered. Accept it. Follow the instructions to launch the registration application.
Choose either SwatNet for Swarthmore or SwatNet for Bryn Mawr. Authenticate using your College username and password. Handheld devices already registered by the Help Desk can choose the SwatDevice network.
OS X users will be prompted for their computer’s username and password as well to save the new network settings.
After a few moments a webpage should open with the Swarthmore Network Registration pages. Select the appropriate login page and enter your username and password again. You will be prompted to install the Bradford agent to obtain access to the network and may need to install or update Virus Scan software. Enter your username and password a final time in the Bradford window.
After installing the required software, it may take up to three minutes for your network connection to reconfigure. When it does, you should be online!
