Press the directories button on your phone and once you do so you will see missed calls, received calls, placed calls and a corporate directory. If you press missed, received or placed calls the phone keeps a list of the last 99 calls in whichever category you're interested in. Corporate directory is a directory of all faculty and staff that work on campus. You can search by first name, last name and telephone extension.
Speed dials are phone numbers associated with physical buttons to the right of the screen on a Cisco IP phone. You can pick up the handset and press the speed dial button to dial the associated party. In most cases, you will have a 7941 phone that may contain an available button for one speed dial. The multi-line 7961 phone may have several available buttons for speed dials.
The remaining Abbreviated Dial numbers are numbered up to 100. These are used in conjunction with the AbbrDial softkey on the Cisco phone.
Connect to your Cisco phone service pageto set up your speed dials. Note: the first time you connect you may get a certificate warning. Click accept certificate.
- Click on the Modify My Speed/Abbreviated Dial Numbers link.
- You will first be required to enter your Windows domain username and password and then click on the Submit button.
- Click on the Device button.
- Under the user options menu, select Devices.
- Click on the Speed Dials button
On the next screen, fill out the grid with your contacts. Make sure any phone numbers that are off campus are preceeded with a # sign. For contacts on campus all you need is the four digit extension. Fill in the corresponding Label field with a contact name. The ASCII Label field can be left blank.
To save your changes, you MUST click on the diskette icon in the upper left hand corner. You will also want to print this page for your reference in using abbreviated dialing. Once you have saved your changes you can log off the system by clicking Log Off in the upper right hand corner of the window.
To use abbreviated dial on your phone, enter the abbreviated dial number you wish to call BEFORE picking up the handset. Then press the AbbrDial button and lift the receiver. The phone call will be underway.
For Individuals with more than one telephone
If you have more than one phone associated with your account, at step 5 above, you need to first select which phone you want to modify. Each phone has a separate Speed Dial/Abbreviated Dial list that must be setup separately. In the device window, in the name field will be a drop-down field with your assigned phones. The phones are identified by a unique MAC address that begins with SEP followed by numbers. You can determine which number is associated with each of your phones by using the Settings button on each phone. Follow these steps:
- Press the Settings button on your phone.
- Scroll down and select Model Information.
- Prepend "SEP" to the number displayed under MAC Address to create the identifier you will need to select in step 5 above.
