An Open Invitation to
All Swarthmoreans

The editors of www.swarthmore.edu invite all Swarthmoreans—students, faculty, staff, and alumni—to submit suggestions for home page features. We especially seek first-person narratives and/or photos, interviews, links to weblogs, podcasts, and digital video for possible inclusion in the home page's center column.

Editorial Philosophy

Swarthmoreans seek to engage the world. The College's web site is dedicated to do the same through genuine, thoughtful communication. The home page's center column seeks to downplay the impersonal, anonymous voice that often speaks for institutions on their sites. It provides instead a forum for members of the College community to share meaningful first-person accounts of intellectual, professional, academic, and personal exploration—including criticism, essays, and opinion pieces on a broad range of issues and topics. Visitors to the site are able to engage "virtually" with the vibrant, intellectual, socially committed, and open community that is Swarthmore College.
