What is Staff Development Week 2012?
On January 10, 11th, and 12th in 2012, Swarthmore College will hold its Third Annual Staff Development Week in the Science Center. The purpose of the program is to provide more opportunities for staff to build upon skills, competencies and to network with other staff. Several wellness and enrichment sessions are also being offered to enhance quality of life. We have mostly drawn on the talent base from within our own workforce or staff and faculty, as well as a small number of prominent outside presenters.
Who should attend?
Any Swarthmore College employee.
Should you attend all sessions?
That's up to you and your supervisor. Discuss the event with your supervisor and decide together which sessions you should attend. We expect that many employees will attend the keynote programs on the first day and the 90-minute general session on Wednesday. Please note: The Thursday morning session is a three-hour workshop.
Is registration necessary?
Advance registration for individual sessions is highly recommended before Friday, December 18th. Thereafter, you will still be welcome to register and attend any or all of these sessions as space allows. You can register for the sessions you would like to attend by going to the Sessions and Registration page within this site.
Does my supervisor know about and support this event?
Staff Development Week 2012 has been well publicized to the community and discussed specifically at President's staff meetings and with supervisors at this semester's Leadership Forums. There has been overwhelming support from these groups. Academic department chairs are also being encouraged to send their interested support and other staff members.
What is the Employee Showcase? It is a wonderful opportunity for you to share your hobbies, community service projects, and other passions you have outside of work. We will dedicate an area to showcase your exhibits. For more information, see the Employee Showcase page.
