Child Care Subsidy Pilot Program
Swarthmore College seeks to provide benefits and programs that best support the changing needs of our campus community and routinely reevaluates those benefits and programs.
The College will pilot a Child Care Subsidy (CCS) Program for 2016. The program was carefully developed in consultation with the Faculty Staff Benefits Committee, and multiple factors were considered during the program’s development, including a review of the costs of local child care and child care options offered by other colleges, including peer institutions.
The pilot CCS Program will allow eligible families to receive a taxable award of up to
$3,000 towards child care expenses in 2016. This pilot program is intended to help some of our employees manage the high cost of child care. The pilot program will run over the course of a two-year period based on available funding. A program review will be conducted annually as we assess our benefits and programs each year.
Employees may apply if they meet the following criteria:
You must be a College employee in a benefits eligible position for a minimum of one year;
You have a child or children under the age of six as of January 1, 2016;
Your household income is $85,000 per year or less;
Additional requirements apply; please see the attached enrollment form for more information. Employees who are deemed eligible will receive the grant in one lump sum, which they are required to use towards any child care provider in 2016.
