Retired or approaching retirement? Interested in volunteer service and international travel? The International Service Community (ISC) is a not-for-profit organization that facilitates volunteer service in an international setting while providing the sociability of a community of congenial people. Volunteers currently participate in our on-going program in Belize, Central America. Begun in 1995, ISC invites volunteers of any age, although it is designed especially for people approaching or already enjoying retirement. ISC volunteers have reached a stage in their lives when they want to take on new challenges. Please read a sample of our newsletters; the one for 2008 is now available! At the same time, they are ready to travel and share their lifetime of experience with people in a developing country. Recent ISC experiences in Belize znd earlier in Sri Lanka and Tanzania, have afforded opportunities for participants to take on new challenges as they retire or approach retirement -- people who want to remain active, pursue international interests, and enjoy community life with a group of self-selected participants. |

The ISC design is that for several weeks or a few months each year, volunteers would use their lifetime experience to provide part-time service in broad areas of need - education, public health, community development, and environmental protection, among others-while enjoying the experience of travel and friendship in an amenable living environment. Participants will have the opportunity to enjoy the intellectual stimulation of new friends and deepen the collegiality of older ones. Developing relationships with host country colleagues is a further important element of the ISC experience. If you are interested in exploring opportunities with ISC,
