Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations
The Corporate, Foundation, and Government Relations (CFGR) office connects Swarthmore College and its faculty with philanthropic institutions, government agencies, and businesses that have a shared interest in the research, programs, or goals of the College or individual faculty members.
CFGR works closely with the President, Provost, Dean, and faculty to ensure that proposals reflect the priorities of the College, comply with the requirements of the funding agency, and accurately reflect the excellence of the work for which they advocate funding. The CFGR office serves as a clearing house for all proposals sent to funders on behalf of the College, including all faculty and some student proposals.
When grantmakers such as The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, National Science Foundation, National Endowment for the Humanities, Ford Foundation, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute decide to fund activities at Swarthmore as part of competitive grant-making processes, they are recognizing the excellence of our institution and activities. We recognize that in choosing to fund a Swarthmore project, they have likely had to decline to fund other worthy projects. We are extremely grateful for their endorsement of our efforts.
