Academic and Campus Life

Parents and alumni will welcome the opportunity to experience what life is like on the Swarthmore campus today. This experience includes learning about the ways in which academic and co-curricular activities complement each other. 

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • EUGENE M. LANG CENTER FOR CIVIC AND SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY OPEN HOUSE

    The Lang Center has been entrusted with providing "vision,leadership and support for the College's central commitment to educate students for civic and social responsibility." To that end, we help prepare Swarthmore College students for service, activism, social entrepreneurship, and leadership through workshops, internships, project advising, and grants. Visitors are invited to speak with students, meet with the staff, and tour the building. Come be inspired and learn how our students are shaping a more just and compassionate world!

  • CAREER SERVICES OPEN HOUSE

    Meet our career counselors, and learn about resources that are available to students and alumni for all areas of their career decision making and planning. Parents and students can learn about how Swarthmore majors relate to career options and how to explore careers through our Extern Program and internship resources. Alumni will be introduced to our job search resources, graduate school planning, and networking opportunities with fellow alumni. Our student career peer advisers will be available to share their insights into how externships and internships have helped them in their career decision making.

  • PREMED AND PRELAW ADVISING TALK

    Is your student planning a career in law or medicine? Health Sciences and Pre-law Adviser Gigi Simeone will talk about applying to medical, dental, and law schools.

  • REFLECTIONS: CONVERSATIONS WITH STUDY ABROAD STUDENTS

    Enjoy a slide show of study-abroad student photos and a digital story as student panelists share their study-abroad experiences.The office of Off-Campus Study staff will answer your questions about the Swarthmore Semester/Year Abroad Program. Light refreshments will be served.

  • PRESIDENT’S WELCOME

    Join President Valerie Smith, Dean of Students Liz Braun, and Provost Tom Stephenson as they provide an update on Swarthmore and answer questions.
