Eligibility for need-based financial aid, including federal grants and loans, at Swarthmore College must be assessed annually by the Financial Aid Office. If you wish to be considered for Swarthmore College scholarships, along with federal or state grants, loans, or campus work opportunities for the 2015-16 academic year, you and your parents (and stepparents, if applicable) must complete your financial aid application file.
This requires completion of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) along with the College Board's CSS Profile and other supporting documentation that may be required depending upon your individual situation. However, if you wish to apply for federal aid only, complete only the FAFSA.
The Financial Aid Office notifies returning students of their aid eligibility for the upcoming academic year in late June. Completing your financial aid application file April 30th will insure that you will have an aid decision by this time and in time to arrange for payment of your fall bill which is due early in August. Adhering to the April 30th deadline also helps to avoid any late fees levied by the College's Business Office. Please note, it is important to complete at least your FAFSA by March in order to qualify for some state grants which may have earlier deadlines than the College.
