For Faculty & Staff
Career Services offers support to current students throughout all phases of career exploration, career planning, and career decision making. We have a team of professional Career Counselors who are available to meet with students through individual appointments. We also offer a wide array of workshops, panels and career events throughout the academic year. We provide a full range of career development services to help students make connections between their academic interests and life after graduation. We also offer an on-campus interview program for students to connect with employers offering both internships and full-time jobs. See our events listing.
As Career Counselors, we help students explore and apply for externships, internships, and full-time employment, as well as plan for graduate and professional school. We assist students in developing strategies for success and provide resources; in our role as Career Counselors we do not offer job or internship placement. We invite you to encourage Swarthmore students to meet with us early and often to help make the most of their educational experience. Our office is centrally located in 135 Parrish Hall (West Wing).
Job and Internship Referrals
Often faculty and staff are contacted by former students who share job or internship openings at their organizations. If you have a job or internship posting, send them to us. Career Services maintains SwatCareers, which offers students a wide array of job and internship postings across a range of career fields. Additionally, Swarthmore is a member of the UCAN Consortium (which shares a comprehensive UCAN Internship Database) and the engIN consortium offering the engIN database for engineering, science and technical internships.
Do you know some alumni who would be great career mentors to your current students? Would you like students in your academic department to learn more about career options for their major? If so, we would love to partner with you to sponsor an alumni career panel. Our partnerships with faculty have created successful career panels such as:
- Careers in the Performing Arts Symposium
- Diverse Career Options for Biology Majors
- Math Alumni Career Panel
- Diverse Career Options for Chemistry and Biochemistry Majors
- Diverse Career Options for Economics Majors
Careers in Theater Alumni panel
Workshops and Class Presentations
If you have to be out of town for a conference or another obligation, consider inviting Career Services to present a career development workshop to your students. Our workshop topics include resume writing, interviewing, internship searching, job searching, and graduate school admissions to name a few. Additionally, we can customize our presentation to fit your academic area and student audience. To request a class presentation, please contact us.
