Janet Smith Dickerson

Dickerson, who hails from Princeton, N.J., served as vice president for campus life at Princeton University, N.J., from 2000-10. Her earlier positions include vice president of student affairs at Duke University from 1991 to 2000, dean of the College at Swarthmore from 1981 to 1991, and associate dean and director of academic support programs from 1976 to 1981. Between 1971 and 1976, she served stints as founding director of support services, associate dean of students, and assistant professor of education at Earlham College.

Dickerson has served on the Board since 2006. She earned a B.A. in English from Western College for Women (now Miami University), Ohio, in 1965 and an M.Ed. from Xavier University in 1968. She has received honorary degrees from Swarthmore and Xavier University. She is married to J. Paul Stephens.
