Larry Shane

Shane, an emeritus member of the Board and a resident of Newtown Square, Pa., enjoyed a long and successful career with Scott Paper Company, joining the firm after two years in the U.S. Navy's inactive reserves' Critical Skills Program immediately following graduation from the College. In 1957, he received the Navy American Spirit Honor Medal. Beginning as a project engineer with Scott, Shane worked his way up through the company hierarchy, serving in positions including treasurer, executive vice president for finance and planning, executive vice president for staff services to vice chair, and chief administrative officer. He retired from Scott in 1991.

Shane's many board memberships include the World Affairs Council; the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce; Corestates Bank; Philadelphia Orchestra; the Economic Policy Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce; and the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, where he served as vice chair.

Shane, who graduated with a B.S. in engineering from Swarthmore, earned an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1960. A Board member since 1970, Shane was chair from 1997 to 2003. He became an emeritus member in 2008.
