Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Holiday Day of Service​

The Black Cultural Center and the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life have organized a community service project to benefit the youth of Chester, PA.  Community members (volunteer) will assemble packages of collected school supplies to be distributed to Chester Community Charter School, Chester Eastside Ministries, and the Dare to Soar Program. 
This event will be followed by a lunch for Day of Service volunteers. 


SELMA (Movie screening)

LPAC Cinema, 7pm

Selma is a 2014 American historical drama based on the 1965 Selma to Montgomery, Alabama voting rights marches led by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., James, Bevel, Hosea Williams and John Lewis.

Candlelight Vigil

BCC Porch, 7PM

This vigil will bring the Swarthmore community together in remembrance of those who have suffered (and are suffering) injustice in our present systems.

MLK, Jr. Annual Luncheon with Keynote Speaker Rev. Dr. Leslie Callahan

We invite you to join the Black Cultural Center for its annual commemorative luncheon, honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. with keynote speaker Rev. Dr. Leslie Callahan of St. Paul's Church in Philadelphia.

This event is open to all and lunch will be served on a first-come, first-served basis.

Collection and Reception

Friends Meeting House, 12:30PM-1:30PM

Join together with faculty, staff, and students for a campus-wide community collection including a time for reflection. Special performances from the BCC Gospel Choir and guest Haitian musician.  Reception immediately following in the Whittier Room.
