Coach: Peter Carroll
After a two-year stint coaching at Swarthmore from 1988 to 1989, followed by 11 years at Franklin & Marshall, Peter Carroll returned to coach the Garnet in 2000. In his tenure at F&M, Carroll coached seven All-Americans and more than 20 school record-holders. His 1999 men’s indoor track and field team won the Centennial Conference Championship.
Seven school records fell during the 2004-05 campaign, including two relay times, three middle distance marks, and two pole vault heights. Combined, the teams won 14 Centennial Conference medals, including the second consecutive gold in the women’s outdoor 3,200 meter relay. Included in the accolades is an All-American selection and four All-Mideast Region performers during the cross country season.
Carroll earned bachelor’s (biology, ‘82) and master’s (secondary education, ‘85) degrees from Villanova University. He also studied extensively in the physical education sports medicine graduate program at Ithaca College, N.Y.
As an undergraduate student, Carroll was a member of the Villanova track and cross-country teams. He won Big East and IC4A championships while on the Wildcats’ 2-mile relay team and finished second in the Big East indoor 1,500-meter run in his senior season. Carroll’s personal best mile is 4:02.34.
