50th Reunion

Class of 1956 Reunion

This milestone occasion is significant on many levels. Most importantly, it is a wonderful time for you to re-connect with your classmates — catching up with your close friends and even making new ones is a highlight of the weekend. Sharing pictures from days gone by (Yes, you've aged quite well!) takes you back to your days as a student. For the College, 50th reunions serve as a leader in philanthropic giving. Generous gifts from this reunion class help the College support the many needs of today's students — creating an educational experience that is based on small classes, great conversation, and exquisitely unique relationships.

How is the gift counted?

The total announced by 50th reunion classes is the accumulation of gifts made over a 5-year period. Gifts start adding up as early as the year following the 45th reunion.

What About Special Projects?

Some 50th reunion classes decide that, in addition to generous support of the Alumni Fund, they will raise money for a special project. Such a project should be agreed upon by the class and discussed with senior staff of the College. Recent examples of approved projects include the Class of 1957 Scholarship in honor of Gil Stott and the Class of 1956 for both the renovation of Parrish Hall and a class scholarship.

How Do 50th Reunion Classes Get Those Big Numbers?

During a 5-year counting period, individual donors have plenty of opportunity to time a major commitment, be it a life income gift or an outright contribution. Also there is time for planning as a group. The class that reaches agreement early has an advantage. With active involvement from a class gift committee, giving of all kinds usually increases with natural momentum in the last two years of the fund drive.
