Patrick and his family arrived in this country in was six years old with no knowledge of English. As a Korean in China, Patrick grew up speaking Korean at home and Mandarin out in the world. In high school Patrick was a member and senior officer of the Debate team which twice placed 4th in State qualifiers. He co-founded the Mock Trial team and served as captain, leading the team to first place in county-wide competition. For two years he was president of Model United Nations which won the district level We the People Constitution Team competition. He was active in student government and served in various leadership roles including Vice President of the Student Body. He also captained the Quiz Bowl team, which went to nationals all four years. Patrick logged 150 volunteer playing lead guitar with the Music Mission Club at local nursing homes.

During the summer after his junior year, Patrick worked as a paid intern in the Los Angeles DA's office. This experience allowed him to see the intricacies of the criminal justice system and influenced his goals for the future. He is passionate about politics because it represents real life solutions to real life problems. Patrick believes that the only permanent way to change the world is to change the minds of people who live in it.
